"Despite the overpopulation of kitty cafes throughout the world’s urban centers, coffee options for today’s sophisticated city pooch have been shamefully limited—until recently. Enter Queens, New York’s only premium dog boutique and specialty coffee shop, Chateâu le Woof. Her dog market and cafe sits in a coffee-undeserved part of Astoria, Queens, near the pup-popular Socrates Sculpture Park, and proffers coffee beverages, Brazilian treats, and quality dog food and accouterments under the auspices of a Parisian theme."

"This is Château le Woof, a new coffee shop-plus-pet store in Astoria. Opened by local Natassa Contini, 33, the spot serves single-origin coffee and sells pet goods by day, and hosts doggy “happy hours,” from 7 to 8 o’clock on select nights. “Coffee lovers tend to be dog lovers, so that’s how the combo kind of came about,” Contini says, as half a dozen dogs roam around her store on a recent night."

"Coffee and Dogs? Count us In! This charming haven already has quite a following, due at least in part to La Colombe, a magnificent craft coffee that can't be found anywhere in Queens. They also hosts various in-store events, including seminars on pet health/nutrition and private doggie birthday parties. Puppy "happy hours" run Mon / Wed / Fri from 7 to 8 p.m., where canines (and their humans) can mix and mingle. The charm about Chateau Le Woof is that it's a community. It's like the local Cheers but with coffee instead! "

"Caffeine and canines. Those are two of the things Astoria resident Natassa Contini loves best. An Astoria shop that's both a cafe and a high-end pet market. The store also sells raw dog food by the plate, including meats like lamb and venison, which range in price from $5 to $10. A lot of people like to feed their dogs raw, but don't necessarily like handling the ick factor. So we'll do it for them."

"This just in- there’s a new coffee shop in town, and this one is for the dogs. (Well ok- and their people, too.) Reader Courtney M. tells us she had a delicious organic chai tea, and that owners Natassa and Jeremy couldn’t be nicer. Expect pet foods, toys, and treats, along with human treats like coffees (from La Colombe no less!), teas, smoothies, and salads & sandwiches down the line."

"Where else can you find a cafe where you can sit and drink a nice coffee in, all the while shopping for your beloved pet? Chateau Le Woof of course. A culmination of love for caffeine and animals which Astoria resident Natassa Contini has had for years, eventually putting them together into this quaint and quirky little place. "

  • First thing I do in the morning is walk my dog in search of a decent cup of coffee. One morning I woke up and thought why not both – coffee for me and a treat for my dog. That’s how Chateau le Woof was born!

"Now as a barista and a proud pet owner, I get to combine the two in one spot - and so do you.“

With over 15 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, I learned about what is arguably the best coffee on the market, La Colombe, and sought out their expertise and training.
